Angry 1998 Honda civic ex, crank no start

I have a 1998 Honda civic ex, car died while I was driving. Didn't check timing belt, checked fuel, good. Has no spark in the plugs. Put a rebuild distributor in and car started like new. Left car running for 5 minutes, turned it off. Half hour later I was going to test drive it and it cranks but no start, once again. Could it be a main relay, new rotor/cap or timing? I was told to let the car sit for a day, if car doesn't start up then to swap the coil, or ignition w my old one.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Start over at square one......
Does it have spark NOW?
Does it have fuel pressure NOW?
Etc.

Put a rebuild distributor in
Aftermarket distributors are always a crapshoot. I hear far too many stories of having to try 3 or more before getting a good one.
then to swap the coil,
It's very likely that your old coil was what caused your original problem, that's the first most common failure.
