New Stereo - 2000 Civic VP
New Stereo - 2000 Civic VP
I have a 2000 Civic VP and I'm thinking about removing my OEM stereo and installing an aftermarket stereo. I know I'm going to get a harness for the wiring so I don't mess with the original wires, but I was confused about the mounting. I've seen installation kits online and at Best Buy, but I was wondering if those were really necessary? Couldn't I just mount the aftermarket radio onto the stock mounts?
I was planning on purchasing either this or this deck.
Thanks in advance!

Re: New Stereo - 2000 Civic VP
Correct me if I'm wrong -- but doesn't the 2000 Civic use a double-din radio? (twice that size).
As far as the mounting kit, it was necessary on my 96 Civic (but only to avoid large gaps on the edges).
I'd personally try crutchfield.com for your stereo. They're cheaper than most stores and accept coupons.
