I'm with you right up to 'chipped ECU' vtec kicks in at 3000 rpm. Be careful buying 'modded' cars. You don't know if it was done by a pro or a douche. Not unusual for 6gens to go 300+ miles though. I know quite a few people with 6gens in that range that still don't burn or leak oil. There's a bunch of posts to that effect in this forum too.

You could probably remove the mod without buying another ECU but the question is, "what has that mod done to the car?"

He's right. You never know if it was done by someone who knows what they're doing. Unless you know for sure, I wouldn't take the risk. If you want your car to last as long as you say, try and find one like you just found but WITHOUT the chipped ECU

I worked out the ecu thing and was explained to me
Another noob question, is this actually a quick engine.. I'm looking for something fun to drive something just as fun as my jetta 1.8t. So is this civic too slow?

Well, you're comparing a naturally aspirated engine to a turbo engine, so it's going to be quite a step down in power. The civic will handle quite well though.

I know it will have less horses.. but will it still be quick? I see the baseline horsepower is like 106

Depends what you consider quick. My b16a2 has 160bhp and honestly to me its kinda slow, but everyone has different opinions.

I'm sure that car will have a nice pull to it though. You could always just go test drive it and see for yourself

Re: Might buy a 6th gen, need help

A Si would be quick, but not fast. A RSX-S is bordering on a bit fast.

If you boost an Si it would be very, very fast.
