99 civic air conditioner troubleshoot

Hi. This is a repost. I just wrote a question under gen 5 category.

I just moved to Texas. My car is maintenanced regularly. The air conditioner was not blowing as cold as i thought it ought.

Mechanic added 2 cans freon. He stated that there was no leak. Air was colder for about 5 days. Today I drove for 30 minutes and the air did not go cold at all. Blew hot air.

What could I do to trouble shoot this problem. or what should I ask/tell this mechanic about the problem. I do not want to be taken advantage of financially. It is hard to trust when I have new mechanics. I understand that things can go wrong on older vehicles, but when something goes wrong right after it was worked on, I become suspicious that the car was sabotaged. ... like I said, hard to trust. any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: 99 civic air conditioner troubleshoot

Sounds like a leak in the system. What exactly did they do to determine if there is a leak? Did they use dye? Can you hear the compressor coming on?

EDIT: If you're in DFW I can point ya to an honest mechanic, just PM me.
