I've got a '96 Honda Civc HX. (Manual trans)


A few days ago I made a short trip down the interstate and noticed my car was acting pretty funny. Most of its miles are highway miles, so I'm very use to what it normally feels like at highway speeds.


But it just didn't feel right.
Normally, if I let go of the wheel it'll still run completely straight, but now it turns hard right. So to go straight, I have to hold the wheel a few degrees to the left, not a ton, but still more than normally.


Also, if I am going very very slow, think pushing the car on a flat surface slow, every time the tires get to a certain point the wheel turns to the right a notch. One revolution later it does the same thing, a notch to the right. This of course happens regardless of speed, it's just easiest to notice going at a crawl.


So what say you?


Brake problem? Pads/rotors? Alignment? Tie Rods?

Sounds like a bad tire, wheel, or wheel bearing. Jack up the front end and spin the wheel(s) by hand. You can also grab the tire and try to move it in and out. Top and bottom movement is a bad bearing and front and rear movement is a bad tie-rod.

Add checking your tie rod ends to that list. I had the same thing happen to me and that's what mine was.

MAKU - your problem is very similar to mine, although my car not only slightly jerks to the right, but veers to the left too. I actually just stopped by the tire shop and they rechecked the tires and rebalanced/torqued my wheels on my 2004 lx. I stopped over at a specialty shop that replaces brakes and suspension issues and they said it was the tie rods. They normally dont wear fast, but can vary in different weather and driving conditions, like speed bumps, pot holes, cornering even. I bought my civ in JAN of this year and its possible this could have carried over from the previous owner, but never noticed it till around last month. check out your tie rods first!!
