B17A1 build
I have a B17A1 that I am about to install into my 96 civic coupe. What is the best way to build it NA? I would like 200hp. More would be better but 200hp is my goal.
Re: B17A1 build
When you're doing a N/A build you're pretty limited.. Basically you will see the most gain in intake, headers, and exhaust. There's a myriad of things you can do but those are the most common. Get yourself a good cold air intake. Get tubular style header, and maybe do some polishing in it (It won't really make a big difference though). And to go with your header, get yourself a high flow exhaust. 2.5" pipe, high flow cat, and a nice fart can as you probably already have haha. You might see 50hp from I/H/E, but if you're looking for more after that.. you can start with a 5 angle valve job(For low end flow), and some porting and polishing on your head. But don't polish your intake, it will only make it worse. The dimples on the intake actually help the fuel stay suspended in the air fuel mixture. Polish the **** out of your exhaust as much as you want, it will only make flow better and better (Less restriction is great!). I'm not sure if you can mill your head to get better compression on these honda engines, so ask your machine shop what the clearance is between valve and piston(or test it yourself with some clay or something soft that will dissipate with ease) and then choose how far to machine it from there.

Re: B17A1 build
Could I put a stage 3 cam and build the engine around it? Would that give me decent horsepower? I wonder if I could get one of those steering wheels that have the little buttons for NOS and hook that up to my VTEC and use it the same way. With a stage 3 cam it would be like having NOS without so much agression or strain on the engine right?
