F***ed up brakes

so i have a 96 ex sedan and the brakes went out. i was just driving normally and i lost all pressure in the brake pedal and had to use the parking brake to help slow down. if i pump the brakes i get pressure back but not for long. my original thought was i had a leak but i couldnt find any and my master cylinder was full. so my next thought was either my proportioning vlave (if equipped i dont remember what valve is used for my brake system) or the master cylinder. i replaced the master cylinder and bled the brakes and it got a little better but the brakes still dont apply till its about an inch or 2 above the floor and they dont apply hard either. i did a brake service about 6 months ago where i flushed my brake fluid and replaced my rear brakes. this problem has me running in circles. any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Re: F***ed up brakes

I have a feeling there's something wrong inside the proportioning valve.

Re: F***ed up brakes

I'd replace it and go from there, I'm pretty confident that will solve the problem because it needs to be something that affects all the brakes.

Re: F***ed up brakes

Change the valve and definitely flush the system more often.

Re: F***ed up brakes

Wilwood makes cool adjustable proportioning valves, they're cheap too, like $80.

Re: F***ed up brakes

You dont have a "swooshing" sound inside the cabin do you? It could be a sign of a broken brake booster.

Re: F***ed up brakes

i dont have that sound in the cabin and ive thought about the booster but wouldnt that make the pedal hard? i think i might have air in my lines so im going to do a complete fluid flush soon but if that doesnt fix the problem then i am stumped
