speedo not working

Ok so my 2000 civic dx speedometer is not working at all. It's been like that since i bought it. i just replaced the vss. didn't help. checked fuse..it was good. I tried a different gauge cluster... same thing. so what am I missing now? the vss sensor connector had some corrosion on it, but i took apart and cleaned it up nice to where I couldn't see the corrosion be a problem.

Re: speedo not working

1. new cluster is bad
2. new VSS is bad
3. abraided/broken wire (probably the problem)

Find a wiring diagram and test for continuity (ohms) or get a service manual (it has step-by-step troubleshooting instructions). In the meantime, look for abraided/broken wires (especially around the VSS).

You still need a wiring diagram.

Really! So the ECM/PCM just sends a wireless signal to the cluster, I think not. There has to be a wire to send a signal hence the wire diagram so you can rule out the wire before you get a new speedo. What if he goes through the trouble of getting ad installing a new speedo and it still doesn't work? I'll tell you, it's the wire. Checking a wire is far cheaper than buying a new speedo.
