Just in time for winter!
Just in time for winter!
This just happened...I think. Don't know. I just happened to notice it. I turned the wheel and there was some type of creaking noise. Im sure it isn't the PS, because the fluid is good. Im leaning towards suspension/steering parts. Maybe the shocks, struts or ball joints? Any ideas besides those? The car isn't driving any differently though.....
Re: Just in time for winter!
I had something similar to this happen on a previous car of mine. It turned out to be the front tie rods. Could be that? Other than that i heard ball joints can be a problem sometimes. Both i've heard make noises like that. I also live in a city where the roads are garbage with potholes :P
Re: Just in time for winter!
I wouldn't say wait a long time, but keep an eye on it if you dont want to spend money on inspection. Just see if it stays the same or gets worse over the next couple weeks maybe.
Re: Just in time for winter!
Ha. I changed my TREs not too long ago. I checked those when I had my car on stands a little while back. Those are good. And yeah. The potholes here are pretty bad too. Im thinking it might be the ball joints more than anything. Thanks for the input. My inspection is in March, and the weather isn't too bad to still work in my garage. I just wanna get it out of the way before it gets too bad.
Re: Just in time for winter!
bushing i have the same problem on my 00 and my buddy has it on his 96 and another on his 98 EL just get some lubricant and spray everything in behind the wheel and it will go away for a few months until it dries up again
Re: Just in time for winter!
Yeah. That's what I'm thinking as well. Maybe the sway bar bushings. I've gotta bring my car in to get it double-checked, which shouldn't run me more than 15 bucks, if that. I'll let you know what it is by Sunday though, but my guess is the same as yours at the moment.
Re: Just in time for winter!
Got a pair of locking pliers and still no go. I think one of the hex slots is stripped as well. One of the links is already broken from the bushing, so it's being held on on one side right now, so that probably doesn't make it any better. My friend tried to hold the one end with the pliers as I tried to loosen it, but still nothing. I may just end up cutting it. If anyone has any tips before I try this lemme know.
