Inner moulding smearing window

Inner moulding smearing window Has anyone else had this issue?
It has been extremely hot this summer and on the inner moulding of my 98 Civic coupe, the adhesive has delaminated, and the felt has started peeling off, so the glue is smearing my window every time I open or close the window. Should I try and get all the glue off and reapply some kind of cloth molding, or should I just cut the rubber part of the molding off?
