foglight overheating!
Need some help. this is probably the third set of foglight i've gone through. they keep overheating. i know they're ebay fogs but i've rewired it with higher gauge wire already and the lamps still tend to overheat. they even burnt my thick plastic fog protectors. i'm considering switching to either LED or HID bulbs to reduce the heat. any suggestions? let me know!

Re: foglight overheating!
what bulb size does it use? and do not put film on any fog lens. it will always get burnt due to the small housing and how close the bulb is. what exactly does overheating mean... the bulb dies, or the chrome gets burnt inside, or the bulb explodes? since they are just for looks anyways, consider a good led setup instead.
Re: foglight overheating!
I put the film because my lens always ends up cracked. Overheating meaning there's smoke coming from my foglight and burn marks on the film. Touching the lens hurts when I touch it, more than usual. I'll just stick some LEDs in there. My lightbulbs are H3

Re: foglight overheating!
well if you have h3, you can do what i did. switch from 55w (1500 lumen) bulbs to 35w (900 lumen) bulbs. they are still plenty bright but run waaay cooler. got em at napa auto parts for around $7 each. since they are lower wattage, they also last alot longer than before. still very white too, not yellow. you have to ask for them in the back parts counter and usually they have a pair in stock.
