Engine swap
I have a 97 civic ex with the d16y8 motor. Eventually when I have the time place and money I would like to replace it with a 3.2 liter v6 vtec that they use in some accords acuras. Is it possible and what else would need to be done?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Engine swap
It takes alot of work to swap in the j32. I think it is more expensive than the k series swap. I know the top of the motor does not clear the hood by a long shot. You will have to have a hole in the hood for it.But if you want to do it. Then you need special motor mounts, wire harness, ecu, axles, hubs, not to sure if you will need knuckles or lca's or not. And there is probably a couple other things.
Re: Engine swap
Most swaps you have to change the axles cause if you get another motor and tranni your stock axles will not fit in the new tranni. It all depends on the tranni if you have to changes the axles. If you stay D series then I think you will not have to change them. B, K, H, J series you will have to change the axles. And vtec is not everything. You can get non vtec motors that will make power of a vtec motor.
