Question idle drops, lags when accelerating.

A little history first. This is a 1997 civic lx with 152,000 miles. The car was given to me by a friend after it overheated and quit. The head gasket was replaced, head shaved and valves set. Then iac replaced. Water pump, time belt, spark plugs and wires, distributer cap and rotar and also throttle body cleaned. TPS has been checked and has no dead spots. Checked tps voltage it reads .46 volts closed and 5.1 open. It seems like it has a miss. It will idle fine with or without a load stopped and in gear the the idle will drop from 750 to about 200 put light pressure on pedal and idle will become stable. With a/c it will stall if the compressor has not kicked in when it's engaged the idle picks up. If I drive on the highway for 20 minutes then in traffic it idles a little better. Last, I have put a new pvc valve, and replaced all the small vacuum lines. I have noticed an oily/watery substance just under the butterfly in the intake. It is directly in front of where the pvc port is. There is no residue in the port. I did have a P505 code and my iac and connections are fine. I have ruled out IAC, intake air hose leakage, vacuum leak on small hoses, TPS. I am a backyard mechanic, I read and learn and can do most work needed. I am now stumped. I do not have the money to take it to a shop in this economy and need help.

Re: idle drops, lags when accelerating.

i ended up cleaning out the iac valve with brake cleaner which solved the dropping idle problem (and startup problems). BUT i now have a jumpy idle. lol choose the lesser of two evils? lmao
