Re: 6th gen mileage

What a find ! Could you send one of those deals my way ?

I have a 97 HX. I had 455,000 miles before I had to put a new engine in. It was still getting 37 mpg combined, with it blowing exhaust into my coolant. I typically got 42 MPG highway. The first 300,000 miles I did oil change every 5000. I only had the oil changed 3 times over the final 150,000. Who knows how many miles I would of gotten had I been more responsible. I had a 90,000 mile engine put in for a total of $700. Maybe its cheaper to replace the engine than to have oil changes ? Haha Still on original tranny. The only thing that has given me trouble is the window seals. Had about 7-8 of those. I had my 3rd clutch put in when I put in the new engine. I am a courier and most of its miles have been loaded down with a trunk and backseat stuffed with heavy stuff. I once fit 21 boxes of copy paper in it. I was ready for a blowout at any moment.

I have a 96 dx. The guy i bought it from told me that it has around 116000 cuz he had installed a diff cluster that displayed 54k. To me it doesnt matter though the car runs as if it did have 54k so its all good

Re: 6th gen mileage

96 EX Coupe MT 178,000 miles that I bought new. Get's 33 avg to this day (~12MPG on the track). It's NOT stock doesn't use any oil and has been uber reliable.

Have an 98 LX AT daily driver that has 163,000 on it. I have averaged (yes combined) 37.2 MPG since I bought the car at 128,000 miles. I did replace the original a/c compressor at 152,000, but hey-it spent it's entire life until now in Phoenix, AZ! Doesn't use any oil either.

Re: 6th gen mileage

Mine is 97 Civic Ex (5 speed) its got 88K miles on it, runs perfectly fine, its got CAI on it, took all waterlines off the intake manifold and throttle body, use coolant only, no antifreeze (There is no winter where i live) So it runs pretty cool most of the time, its my everday ride and its making an average of 35 MPG after these few Mods were made....

Re: 6th gen mileage

I had a 97 EX coupe that had 145000 on it before I lost it in a flash flood. It ran like a top and had no issues to speak of. I kept up with preventative maintenance. I am buying another 97 EX coupe tomorrow with 152000 just to use as a commuter car and I hope it is as reliable as my first one!

Re: 6th gen mileage

Insurance covered it, total loss. I used the money from my old Civic and my wife's '01 Sentra to get her an '04 Accord. So this new one is coming from the bank, but it's a good price. I forgot to say that my old Civic averaged 37mpg!

I'm betting if you have no check engine light on, it's the primary O2 sensor. Replace it and your mileage will shoot right back up .

Re: 6th gen mileage

A B18 can get great mileage, it's all in the driver . Seriously, you can get 11MPG on a road course and 35MPG mixed driving.

97 Ex coupe auto. 203,000 miles. Runs great but my mileage is horrible! 18mpg last fill up and that is pretty good considering I've gotten 12. Good driving habbits too. Think it's the o2 sensor? No check engine light on so i'm not sure

98 LX, 207,000 miles on it...getting around 35 mpg. Just had to do a lot of stuff to it, but it's all routine stuff that I have been putting off...with the exception of a few surprises
-New Battery
-New Alternator
-New Tie-Rod
-New front tires
-New front brakes
-New rotors
-New back brakes
-New radio (mine got stolen)
-New oil pan
-New o2 Sensor
-New Shifter bushings
-New plugs
-New Wires
-New air filter

Were all setup to go another 200,000

i have a 1996 Honda civic cx d16y7 all stock except for a short ram intake.
it has 49,000 miles on it, it s a really good car i tough it was going to be a slow car for its engine size but its quick when you know how to shift fast.

Re: 6th gen mileage

My daily driver is a '98 LX automagic with 183,000 miles. I never got below 38MPG while living in Phoenix. Welcome back to winters as I'm getting right around 30 this winter in Ohio . Only things replaced were the radiator at 110,000 and the a/c compressor six months before moving out of Arizona.
