Trans sticking?

hey guys i have an 00 civic ex. when i got my trans fluid changed about...a little over 8-9 months ago the guy used synthetic trans fluid instead of the honda trans fluid..now the trans sticks when i start my car up and try put it into drive sometimes..also i read a topic on the 00 ex coming with keyless, is that true? and could i go to a honda dealer and get a fob replacement? because if it is true when i got my car it never came with a fob,

edit: i have aftermarket jvc arsenal hd radio in the car so.

Re: Trans sticking?

Drain and refill the transmission with Honda MTF.

Yes, the EX came with keyless system. Just buy the remote if the keyless control box behind the driver's kick panel has not been removed.

Re: Trans sticking?

I don't think I'd put honda MTF in it. Go there and get some Honda ATF instead. In the automatics you always want to use Honda tranny fluid in it, otherwise you will run into issues. Hopefully the transmission is not destroyed yet.

Good point. Misread it as a manual.

Re: Trans sticking?

If it's just hard to get out of park and back in then it's just the cable that goes from gear shift to transmission. It's an easy fix. You'll have to drive car up on ramps or jack it up and support it. Follow shift cable to transmission. Take two 10 mm bolts out of inspection plate and remove it. You'll see your cable on the inside. Get some "valve grinding grease" from car parts place and put lots on the inner cable where it slides into cable housing. It has grit in it which will grind the oxydization build-up from inside of the housing and make the hole a little larger as it's squeezing the inner cable as it passes through. Put back together and turn key on to allow gear shift to unlock but don't start car. Work gear shift back and forth from D2 to park about 30-50 times. Don't slam it just work it. It will loosen up and be just like new after that. I did this to our two Civics and it works. Good luck.
