Hi I'm new to the forum, got a question here for anyone who cares to comment on it; i just recently purchased a '99 Honda Civic HX with a D16Y5 SOHC VTEC-E engine, I was really disappointed to find out that this engine really isn't that good for racing, but more for saving gas and money. whats the best engine swap for my HX? Don't mind the price at all. I really want my car to be at its best or at least be a threat to any mustangs or camaros i come across. Oh another question too, my civic is a coupe, and i read a lot about people talking about hatchback civics; which are better and why?

I hope your not street racing....

K20 is the best engine swap.
H22 is second.
B18 is third.
B16 is fourth.

The first two are rather expensive, even a b18 is pretty pricey. H22s are a bitch to install in civics (at least they were when I was playing with it). K20s are just expensive to buy.

I think the hatchback theory is just preference. I personally like the coupe myself I don't see there being much difference otherwise.

thank you so much, and no i don't street race, i live really close to a race track and everyone goes there on Saturday night, its really loud and everybody complains about it being so close but not me Again thank you and thanks for clearing up that hatch question too.
