Your engine was only available in New Zealand, Australia and Turkey. That's why there's not so much mention of it on this site.

The best? That's a very broad question. What are you looking for in an engine? B18C or B16A are the most responsive to modifications as they have DOHC VTEC, and are compatible with your generation Civic. The newer K series have even more potential but won't simply bolt into your car without an engine mount kit and wiring harness changes.

Re: d16y4 engine swap???????

yeah im in Australia, well i was lookin into the B16A6 (vtec i hope), as it was made for the EK version. i plan to continue running with the d16 for a while, and buy the B16 and over time build it up until im ready to install it all.

but before i throw the new engine in, was needing to upgrade handling and all breathing gear.
quite new to the modding scene, i know there is some sort of order, just trying to get it right the first time round. trying to get all the help i can get. its harder in Australia to get the parts and help.
cheers!

Re: d16y4 engine swap???????

if you want the best engine. i would go with a k20 out of a RSX. but you also could get a H22 out of a prelude it has almost 200hrp the k20 will be about 6000 the h22 will be about like 3000 for a complete swap. but if you have hook up im sure you could get it cheaper.

damn...now im thinkin h22, but ive heard they a bit heavier, but lookin at my EK model seems like it will fit way easy
b16 a bit lighter but less hp.... i hate all the choices

That's why b18c/b16 is much better choice for EK's. Less weight, easy bolt in with minimal handling change.
