Steering wheel jerks to one side

Well, I had the pleasure to have my steering wheel start acting up while I was on the highway. I was driving, and out of nowhere, the steering wheel started jerking to the left. The best example is your just moving it to the left little by little but with quick motions. I checked my tires. They're fine. I thought maybe because they're Blizzaks, the warmer weather would have something to do with it. I doubt it, but I'm keeping it in the back of my head. I had an alignment a few months ago. But the weird thing is it doesn't do this right after I start driving. Once I've been driving for a little bit, the wheel starts going beserk. I'm trying to keep my driving to a minimum since this event. Any ideas wtf it could be?

Not 100% sure what that could be ... but check things like ball joints, CV joints/boots for tears/oily substance on them .. steering rack/linkage? If the alignment was done Properly and you haven't hit any large holes or curbs/speed bumps hard .. then perhaps something is worn/damaged.

Re: Steering wheel jerks to one side

Thanks. I have a few people telling me it may be the tie rod ends. Im putting my car in the garage later tonight and doing a visual inspection either later tonight or tomorrow morning. If its the TREs, the replacement procedure seems fairly easy for a DIYer. I've hit pot holes, but nothing severe. Just the little ones here and there since the roads here are crappy to begin with.

Yes, forgot about tie-rod ends. They will be easy to tell if they are worn.

Re: Steering wheel jerks to one side

I grabbed the wheel at 3 and 9 and it moved, which I heard is a symptom of shot TREs. I checked the boots and there isn't anything cracked or leaking. So the TREs might just be the issue.
