this crazy guy at the garage told me that he could make my vtec manually activated by a buttom, so i told him yeah, i dont know what he did but it worked nice the first week, you could hear that beautifull sound whenever you wanted but today it stoped working and i cant find the guy so i dont know what can i do, the car is stock, just a fliter that makes it louder

Re: i screwed my 2000 si vtec:( (not the car, the vtec)

well the vtec is actually a very complicated system and activating it at the wrong time (when engine isnt warm, oil pressure is too low, rpm is too low, throttle position isnt correct for the fuel map, etc) will cause serious engine damage. there is a reason why the vtec cam profile is controled by the computer and needs several different conditions to be met before the solenoid will even activate. trace back the switch wiring and see where it leads. most likely to the vtec solenoid in the back of the engine head. see if you can remove the wires and check to make sure the stock wiring is still intact. if there are still problems, you may have done damage to some of the vtec system parts or the engine.

Sounds like a ghetto mechanic. Aren't there vtec controllers out there?
