hi there...

i`m a newbie here and i own a 1996 civic single cam vtec(D16y8) and i have a problem with my auto tranny which i need help with...the problem is this...whenever the gear has shifted from 2nd to 3rd going towards 4th, the RPM climbs steadily till around the 2.3 ~2,5 and then it it drops back to around 2.3 ~ 2.4 before suddenly shooting back to 2.7 and shifts to 4th...all this happens while my foot is still on the accelerator...i suspected the gbox fluid was bad(prevous experience) and changed it but to no avail..the problem is still there..it is worse when i drive with the air-con ON...actually it`s more obvious when the air-con is ON...really need help guys cuz i don`t want a major issue to creep up on me...thanks..

it sounds like the clutch packs are slipping? an early sign that eventually it will not shift gears anymore. new fluid will not fix this issue, which is an actual mechanical problem. just keep driving it til it dies and then either have a working used one swapped in or get the old one rebuilt.

thanks for the info..i think i might as well get mine rebuilt...one time deal...any tips to watch out for during the rebuild?anything to add or remove that can make it last longer/give extra performance?

yeah if they make it for your car, get the TCI master racing overhaul kit. comes with new, stronger clutches and other stuff.
