Fan System Problem

I have a 1999 civic dx and my fan system wont work at all. I have checked the switches and relays and they all work except where the relay is connected in the interior of the car below the glove box, the relays don't work when plugged in there. any help would be great thanks.

Re: Fan System Problem

Test the switch found plugged into your thermostat housing. That is most likely the culprit.

Re: Fan System Problem

Read my prior post, "on the thermostat housing". It's a two pin connected switch that monitors coolant temp. and 'switches' on the cooling fan.

Re: Fan System Problem

Re: Fan System Problem

you re not getting any air coming out the vents? its either a bad blower motor or the blower motor resistor/transistor. do you hear any sounds when you turn the fan on?

Re: Fan System Problem

OH, sorry Grizzly. When you said fan system I had to assume you meant cooling fan for the engine.

Re: Fan System Problem

No problem. Ya the fan system doesnt work there is no sound no light, no nothing. It was turning on full blast for a while every once in a while before it completely died. I have tested all the wiring and cant figure out why the second switch inside the car wont work,(the switch works just not in that location).

Re: Fan System Problem

Well i replaced the blower motor resistor and that didnt fix the problem, so i checked the motor by hardwiring it to my battery and it works great. So after a long period pf testing all the wires i think i have found the problem. The picture below is the silicon chip that is inside the nobb/control box for the blower and there are several spots where it has blacked out and crusted over circuits. So i am thinking i will need a new one. I will most likely not be able to buy just the chip. So i was wondering what the box that houses the chip and the nobbs for adjusting the blower and heat is called and where i might find it.
Thanks

Re: Fan System Problem

usually ebay sells those ***** and dial pieces for cheap. its easier to just get new parts than to worry about fixing it. you might try wiping the crusted or black areas with alcohol and see if that makes it work first.
