radio relocation?

I was wanting to install my new hu down lower in the console where the tape player is. Y shop said that the cables (antenna/power...) are long enough for that. It keeps it more hidden (big plus). has anyone tried this?

Re: radio relocation?

The antenna cable in mine reached almost to the shifter. The stock radio wire harness wouldn't reach much beyond the stock radio position but the adapting to aftermarket extends it. I don't know where the tape player is in yours but a stock CX has the climate controls below the radio & a curved panel below that to the cup holder. I hadda make a mount for my equalizer to stick outta that curved piece.

Re: radio relocation?

That is not my dash, but a similar dash. the "Honda" blank plate is where the current radio is and the white headunit in front of the shifter is where the tape player is (currently)

Re: radio relocation?

What would you put in place of the radio now if you do drop the HU down there?

Re: radio relocation?

I would keep the stock radio in the dash, even if it only powered on, but the radio didn't work. the more that it looks stock the better.

Re: radio relocation?

interesting idea, but I would still prefer to keep it looking stock inside. less of a temptation for thieves...
