hi everyone.my 99 1.4 civic 3 dr hatch has a kakimoto cat back exhaust.i was wondering if a decat pipe from a 1.6vti would fit or are the flanges at each end end different for a vti decat? and would it make it much louder?

Hello,

I recommend leaving the cat on always. The cat does help with sound (as it can have a very raspy tone without one) but the main reasons are virtually no performance gain and polluting. Dyno's never show more than ~1HP gain with cat removal even with an aftermarket exhaust/intake etc.

If you think you still want to gain the 1HP, put a high-flow aftermarket cat on the car.
