6th gen power problems

I have a 99 ex with a few problems....

First, when im idling sometimes the rpms drop down to like 400 and it almost stalls out then it goes back up to around 800

Second, When i get into gear the car feels like it has no power and kind of boggs out for a second untill i get the rpms up, this usually only happens in 1st and 2nd but 3rd sometimes does it (b4 someone says it, i know how to drive a manual this happens after im already in gear, foot all the way off the clutch) does this sound like a clutch problem or an engine problem? i do have a code right now it's P1457 - Manufacturer Control Auxilary Emission Control (near canister) if a lack of gas or something would cause that...and on the code subject, does anyone know if that would more likely be the EVAP canister itself, the vent valve, or the purge solenoid?

Re: 6th gen power problems

its hard to say for sure on the emissions part, but those things are only for vapor recovery and should not affect how the car drives. more than likely you need to take apart and clean your intake system, throttle body, idle air valves, and see if that fixes it. most likely thats causing the low rpms and bogging.

Re: 6th gen power problems

Wow, just noticed the rpm dropping too. It was driving fine, then pulled into parking space and put it in neutral, ebrake, let off of clutch and started listening to radio for a bit then the freeking engine shut off. That's the first time that's happened. Turned the car back on and the rpms slowly drop, and keep dropping...
