Clutch Adjustment
Clutch Adjustment
Hey guys! I would like to say hello, as I am new here and am happy to have found a forum for our cars! I own a Civic Si, and lately the clutch engagement seams to be rather late (further up the travel of the clutch pedal) so it either needs adjustment or it is starting to go on me. Sometimes if i let out the clutch quicker than normal under acceleration it will jitter slightly, which to me means signs of slippage.
Anyways, what I was wondering was where the clutch adjustment area is as i would like to make it engage earlier throughout pedal movement and if this fixes the problem, great. Otherwise, i'll need to replace the clutch if this doesn't help. Thank you in advance for everyones help! Looking forward to sourcing other problems through this site...and yes i know what the search function is! (I own a TT 300zx as well as a new Civic and am active on forums for those!)

Re: Clutch Adjustment
there is no clutch adjustmend as these cars have a hydraulic clutch. the only adjustment is clutch pedal freeplay.. and like you said its engaging higher then normal and its jittering it sounds to me like its time for a new clutch.. good luck
Re: Clutch Adjustment
GL with that clutch changing... took me 7 hours to do it the first time and then 4 hours to do it the second time with regular jacks and wrenches lol... (put the clutch in backwards the first time, noticed AFTER everything was put back together)
Re: Clutch Adjustment
Welcome tandaman!
How many km's on the Civic? How does your clutch hydraulic fluid look? If the fluid (brake fluid btw) is not clear/amber you should have it replaced before going further. IMO it's the most overlooked fluid in the car. A little shuttering doesn't necessarily mean you need a new clutch but it could be a little glazed from driving style/bad fluid etc.
Always try the simplest things first!
