unknown problem..??

Hi Im new to the forum so bare with me lol I have a 97 Ex Civic, My problem is that the car idles hard & wants to die out. When I rev the car it wants to hesitate at 3-4K. Ive replaced the Fuel filters, fuel Pump, Spark plug wires. Anyone have any Idea's? Could the Cam Shaft sensor or Fuel rail sensor be an issue also? Thx

Re: unknown problem..??

I used to have a similar problem with my Civic. Have you checked the throttle body tension? I'm just taking a stab at it, since I got rid of my Civic a couple years ago...my memory or how I fixed it escapes me. I noticed that mine would also act different when I was running the A/C. Good luck though... my Civic was really pimp and a good car!

Re: unknown problem..??

A) need more info, do you have a check engine light on? B) If A=no, do a ECM reset and idle learn procedure. If A=yes, find out the code it may help.

There is no such thing as a cam shaft or fuel rail sensor on your car. If a sensor failed you would get a check engine light. Try cleaning your injectors.

I suggest adjusting your timing and idle and clean your IACV.

How many miles are on this car?

Re: unknown problem..??

Nice catch Sql-There is a crank angle sensor and no cam sensor (this isn't a Toyota like my buddies that left him stranded because of a failed cam sensor). And there certainly isn't a fuel rail sensor of any type that I know of.

Re: unknown problem..??

check your IACV, make sure that there is no slack on the throttle cable, as the other guy said reset... remove battery for 2mins and place it back in and try it again, make sure that there are no vacuum leaks...
