My brakes suck
I'm accustomed to the 12" 4 wheel disc 4 piston cross drilled slotted, braided steel brembo brakes that were on my Porsche 944. I know i can't quite compare a 944 to a Civic but still, im looking to upgrade my brakes. I've seen the aem BBU kit with the caliper relocation and that's all fine and dandy. I've seen an Integra with a 5 lug upgrade and NSX brakes and that's just wonderful. However I only have 4 lugs, 2 discs and not a lot of cash. SO with that said i was looking around to see if a factory BBU was possible. I know I have to replace the rear trailing arms (or the entire hub unit) with that of an Integra or EM1 Si to get disc brakes in the rear but I was looking at the EP3 2002 models that have 4 lugs. Has anyone seen heard witnessed, read wrote drawn etc about taking larger disc brakes from a later model vehicle and using them on our 6th gens? Like i said i looked into the type r and all that rubbish but it's quite a bit of money so yeah any help or a lead in the right direction would be much appreciated.
Re: My brakes suck
Hey ok i put the integra rear trailing arms on my 99 ex and put the si brake prop valve.As of rite now i only have the drilled slotted brakes in the front and stock rotors in the back. I never drove a porsche but my brakes feel pretty amazing to me. Maybe to keep in on the cheaper side do the rear disc conversion with stainless braided lines all the way around and the drilled slotted rotors. That shouldnt cost to much.

Re: My brakes suck
i used ATE superblue in my clutch and brakes today and it made a HUGE difference already. Drums suck that's all there is to it. As far as the brakes on Porsches go? If you did more than breathe on the pedal it would snap your head clean off. It would stop on a dime and give you nine cents change. 0 brake fade, even on the track, i had a truck blow a tire in my face practically and I went from 100-30 in less than a second with no lock up. They were amazing. I'm trying to bring that over to my civic.

Re: My brakes suck
i looked into it, and to my understanding its just a larger rotor with a caliper relocation bracket. not really gonna do much if you ask me. You still have single pistons and you have a larger rotor with a smaller pad surface. what have you gained? looks i guess.
Yeah man totally get the ATE Superblue. It's amazing stuff. It was recommended to me by POA (Porsche Owners of America) and many of the SCCA Club racers. I figured if it's good enough for them its good enough for me. Some of the specs on it
Features/Benefits of ATE Super Blue Racing Brake Fluid:
* Blue tint of fluid makes bleeding brakes easier
* Ideal for race use, excellent choice for street driven vehicles, too
* Boiling point minimum: 536 degrees F
* Wet boiling point minimum: 388 degrees F
* Viscosity at -104 degrees F: max 1,400 mm 2/5
* Designed to last up to 3 years under normal highway driving conditions

Re: My brakes suck
i got it from paragon-products.com but you can google it and see if you find it for cheap. 1 big bottle is $12 enough to do all four brakes. I just loosened up the bleeders on all four corners and hit the brakes until it pumped air out and flushed as usual. For having drums in the back it made a huge difference. They have superGold which is one step further than the blue but unless its a track only car i don't see why you would need it. Awesome stuff man i still have a lot left over.
