2000 Honda Civic EX suspension question

Hello all new to the forum but I highly doubt many people have my problem...I have an upwards of 800 pounds of audio equipment in my trunk and was wondering what do you all think would be a good cheaper way of handling that weight? Also do you think I need to do any upgrades to my engine or tranny? Thanks for your time, Mark.

Re: 2000 Honda Civic EX suspension question

I'd remove the 800# and replace it with a 5# stock unit. Get you a nice home theater unit for the home

I'm a big proponent of leaving engines and transmissions bone stock. Learned the hard way. Save your money for more important things. Times are tight and getting tighter. (but get some nice wheels and tires)

You don't have 800 lbs of weight in your trunk. It would be difficult for a 1/4 ton pickup to drive around all the time with 800 lbs of weight in the back.

I don't have 800 pounds. Did some re-thinking about it and it is actually with everything in going to be around 500-600lbs. Any suggestions?

What amps and subs are you running that would require 3 Odyssey PC2250's?

Re: 2000 Honda Civic EX suspension question

yeah i believe my civic has a weight limit of 850 lbs and to drive around like that would be like riding in a fiesta...lol. but dude my ssugestion to u is rip all of it out and get a system weighing no more the 150 lbs so ur lil civic doesnt have a heart attack trying to climb hills. another idea is to move some of the batteries to the front of the car to disperse the weight a lil better. u need to relace ur entire suspension with some heavy duty stuff to prevent from premature wear, even then ur shocks are gonna be going fast. as for the engine and stuff, to have anything close to what the stock civic has u would need something like a b18. after everything is all said and done ur looking at atleast 5k if everything is don half assed, give or take.

Like i said though sell the **** thats in there get a cheap system and a nice suspension and a quality tune up from the money u make ofof it and then maybe ur car wil start loving u and will be getting more then 12 miles to the gallon. Just my opinion though

for every 500lbs added to a vehicle you lose an average of 3-5 mpg

Re: 2000 Honda Civic EX suspension question

i would recomend getting tougher gearz, not sure how much that would cost, a stiffer suspention, and a performance chip http://www.engineperformancechip.com...ce-chip-x2-p-8
i linked it
i got this and it will give you enough speed 2 lug tht arround, i got a prety heavy sterio also, just not that heavy mayb only like 200lb max. and w all my performance upgrades i still get roughly 150bhp and 0-60 in 8 seconds.
