Auto 2000 engine swap suggestions?
Auto 2000 engine swap suggestions?
Hi, I own a Silver 2000 Honda Civic Auto "Value Package" (i think it's pretty much a DX with air conditioning and a cd player)
This car is my daily driver and I think when the time comes i want to give it a VTEC swap. What are my options with a AUTOMATIC car? From what i understand there were Del Sols that had B16 engines with auto trannys.
My goal is to be able to get around in traffic a little quicker and i'll probably throw some shock/springs on there with stickier tires for the corners. I own a 93 RX7 but so i don't need the Civic to be my speed demon.
Anyways, here's some pics of my cars. Starting with my wifes RX8 and my RX7. Then a pick of my first car; don't laugh it was pretty riced however, i still miss it
Thanks for reading!

Wow, that's a pretty wide open question. "What are my options?"
Well you could do an auto to manual swap. That'll get you some nice gains and fun drivin'. But usually I recommend that you sell the whole car and buy a manual. Automatics sell for more than manuals fo you could actually make money this way.
You could put in a turbo or supercharger.
You could do the usual I/E bolt-ons.
You could swap the DX head for an EX head with VTEC along with the IM.
You could do a full motor swap as you mentioned. If you do a B16 swap you'll need a B16 tranny, linkage, and possibly axles (not sure).
So anyways, why don;t you focus on 1 thing and post that up and we could go from there.

Both the LS and GSR came with automatics... but its not a straight forward swap. There's a bit of cutting and hammering involved to get the auto tranny in, and you'll need to work out the electronics as well. The B-series has a separate transmission controller, the D has it integrated into the ECU.
Have a friend who just did this... and is still fighting with the wiring to make it work right. If you do it, get a whole harness, the ECU and the TCM with it.

Thanks Boilermaker1. So i should look for a LS or GSR engine (i'm assuming this is a Integra?) and tranny? I'm happy with the Automatic for my daily driving and i'd like to keep it that way. I'll do some more research in that direction, and if i have more questions, i'll be back to bother you
P.S> Nice ride Boiler, i'm sure you have fun with it!
