Life after swap
Life after swap
I am currently driving the em civic and planning on selling and moving on to the EG civics.
Just recently drove the 99 SIR sedan in the Philippines and it was wicked.
The 02 civic sedan has a crappy aftermarket support from the bigwigs and K swap is still too much.
I am thinking of getting the B16 or B18 into either the EH hatch or sedan.
I was just wondering how their civics are after an engine swap? (problems, headaches, benefits, stuff like that)
Cheers

have done a few b series swaps on friends cars and currently doing a itr swap on my cousins ls teg.....to tell you the truth right now after doing 2 k swaps, nothing compares to the k. k is the only way to go right now, but if you are dead sure on doing a b swap then all i can say is, do it right and do your research and you will find it reliable as it can be. just like any other swap if you do it right nothing should go horrible bad with it.
im currently finishing up my k swap now and after doing 2 k swaps into a ek and a es2, to tell you the truth i wouldnt go to a b.........

Question: how much on average would you say it costs to swap a k20a3 (which is the base rsx model) into an ek civic? reason im asking is i have a 97 civic dx and just bought a k20a3 for 1600 with 18000 miles, came w/ stock rsx axles and shifter linkage cable too. i figure w/ car and engine out of the way i think i am still gonna end up dropping 3000+ just for parts.
How much is an average b-swap?

umm well for the ek it requires a bit more work. but if you already have a complete motor id say youd be spending anohter $3k at most. but it maybe a little bit less...not too sure
hey if your serious about the swap then id say go for it....just these past few months ive spent almost $10k have 3 k motors(one brand new one from honda) and im still not done! lol im just taking my time just so i know i am doing this all right
avergae price for a b swap in your car is much cheaper than k. id say youd be spending close to $3k for everything depending on wat b you decide on. b motors are getting cheaper and cheaper cuz everyone wants to do a k swap nowadays. even the b18c has gotten cheaper too. its not that hard to do a dc2 b swap. but then again its nothing new anymore.....seen almost everything you can do to a b...but with the k you can just change the vtc and with a little tuning you get 16whp easy! all with oem parts too.
sorry but im kinda bias towards the k motors right now, cuz i just rode in a few k swapped cars and the rode in a b18c dc2 and i just loved the k swapped cars better.

Re: Life after swap
I just did a k20/k24 swap and everything said and done was 12k and I did all the work myself. K swaps are NOT inexpensive, but the satisfaction of having done it myself was worth it. If you want to swap in your main car and you're doing a K or bigger B...Its going to be on the fritz a while. It took me 11 months to completely finish my build and swap. I'm pushing 267whp and about 188wtq. Don't have problems with it at all and it could be a daily driver if I chose it to be. You're looking at serious money if you get into K series though. Hope this helps!
