wheels too small?
wheels too small?
About 6000 miles ago I installed a used tranny from a Civic EX (D8y16) into my 1998 civic cx (D7y16) Apparently the gear ratio is different. The inner front tires are wearing wavy. I rotated the wheels and had an alignment at an A+ alignment shop and the same wear happened again on the front tires. I took it back to the shop and they put it back on the machine and showed me how everything was well in spec. They suggested that my tires having 70000 miles on them were getting old: everything looked tight and they thought the new tranny work had nothing to do with the condition of the tires.
I checked today and an ex uses 15 inch wheels and my cx has 14 in. wheels.
Could this be the problem? My car has much better acceleration with the new tranny but the tires are complaining I guess. Should I get 15 in wheels? I need new tires soon anyway.

hm... Different gear ratios shouldnt have an effect on Tire wear. gas milage yes, Tire wear no.
A wavy wear pattern would suggest that the wheels are out of ballance or the tires are out of "round". There is the possibily that your dampers have gone bad too, along with the suspension bushings... But Remember Rule #1 in auto repair.... Chainge the cheepest part 1st. So have the wheels balanced and check to see if the tires are still round. If that doesnt solve the problem then move on to bushings... then check the balljoints.... ect ect ect..
