I've seen a V6 fit into a civic engine bay.. I think it was a random build thread on this forum. I can't remember which engine it was, but it was a hella tight fit..
edit: not a 7thgen chassis, but here's a J32A2 under the hood of an EJ6 (1996 DX Hatch)

The J32 swap is one of the easiest swaps you can do on a 7th gen....hell id just throw in the J35 from the type s while i was at it....

V8? Yes it is doable. Make sense, no way to 99% of people. Cool, absolutely. Expensive OH YEAH.
