Rep Power: 0 A/C where are you?
2002 Civic/EX. 28,500 original miles. Yesterday and since I've had this car the A/C always worked good. Today, will not turn on at all. Had it checked, fuses good, compressor OK and blower fan OK. Anyone have any ideas? Pretty sure its electrical. Seems like things are starting to go in this think. Two weeks ago, it was the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors.

check the fuses again. u have two boxes. one in the engine bay and one under ur seat. the AC has a few fuses that can trigger it (like the odometer fuse, yea wtf right? when my odo fuse blew, the ac didnt engage)
also, u might have a problem with ur compressor clutch. id get it checked out.

Fuese been checked. The one in the engine compartment on passenger side and the one under the steering column. There is nothing under the seat. The compressor goes on for a moment but shuts off by the too much pressure switch.

What is the point of disconnecting it and jumping? You would be putting the system in danger if there was any moisture, or fluids that may come by.

Seriously though, check your pressure on both the high and low side ports.
low side should be around 40 psi with the compressor on and the high side should be around 150 psi

usually that means the refrigerant is too low (leaking). most cars will shut the compressor off when that happens.

The pressure cut-off switch also will kill it if it builds too much pressure.
It goes both ways. But yes you are correct, it typically means it is low. Which then brings up the question of where did it go? You could get a can of freon and some uv dye and uv light to start if you find out its low

Had this same exact problem.....The fix is replacing your Blower Motor Resistor. Here is a link explaining the process:
https://www.civicforums.com/forums/3...tor-relay.html
I bought the part at RockAuto.com for about $45. Here is a link for that:
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...&parttype=6557
It took ten minutes to swap the part out and AC was back in business!
Hope this helps!!

Re: A/C where are you?
Actually, I think this link is the one to follow for replacement.....the other one has a lot of confusing information:
https://www.civicforums.com/forums/3...t-working.html
Keep in mind that some people refer to the part as a blower motor relay or blower motor transistor.....but when I purchased it it was call a blower motor resistor.
Also keep in mind that I replaced the whole part rather then soldering a new resistor like the post talks about....to me it was just easier that way plus you can save the old part as a backup if you decide to solder it later.

Lowlife, the mileage is real. This was my mom's car. At ninety years old two years ago, she did not want to drive anymore after breaking her hip. She bought this car new, I saw the paperwork. After all said and done, the problem was found. Needed a new power relay something or another for the blower system. Its a plug in unit somewhere under the dash area. $105.00 part. Original Japan part Denso 077800-0682. Has a heat sink built on it.

That's what I was told on my initial visit to the repair shop. Obviously I had been misinformed and I do not think the a/c guy was doing the checking that day. So here's another sensor that had to be replaced.

Re: A/C where are you?
Most cars? Not just honda? One of my mechs couldnt figure it out when my AC compressor wouldnt turn on last week (all it needed was a recharge) and he was clueless as to why my AC compressor shut off. I would think a good mechanic would know this.

As to my understanding, they did a lot of electrical checks and that's how they found the faulty part. Of course they did check the refrigerant which was OK.

you never just need a recharge. its a sealed system so if you lost refrigerant already, you will lose it again since the leak was not fixed.
