I just bought a used 02 Civic EX auto at 97K. I am nervous as hell that the transmission will fail! It runs great right now, however. Anyone have an 02 Civic with well over 100K WITHOUT tranny problems? Thanks!

I have an 02 with 157k. No problems yet but it's a manual. I've heard nothing but bad things about the automatics.

I have a 03 with 60k miles, no noticeable problems as of yet, will let you know in another 5 years when i hit 100k

There are countless threads on this forum about auto-trans failure, there are major defects and they almost all fail at some point. We can't answer these questions in every new thread, because someone posts about trans problems everyday. Read the first couple pages in this thread and you'll get some good answers. Any other questions please post there as well.

I am underwhelmed. Certainly there have been SOME 02 Civic AUTO owners who have gone close to 200k without tranny problems. My 02 runs great at 97k, but I am the 3rd owner, so don't know what has happened in the past. Should I sell it now while it runs good? What other car out there that is under $10k at around 100k miles and gets civic-esque gas would be a good buy that doesn't have known tranny and engine problems till well after 250k? Thanks!

'01 Civic with 148,xxx miles. Automatic shifts smoothly, no problems between gears or into reverse. I don't think I'll have any problems getting to 200k (knock on wood).

I have 02 civic auto with 79K miles on it. I change my fluid at 60K miles. I drive about 90 mph everyday and my tranny seems to be shifting normal. When its cold it shifts differently, but other than that i cant complain. so far so good

its gonna take you five years to hit 100K! lol wow i wish it would take me that long i put 20k a year on my car. 116k miles on my car and its only 5 years old.

Seriously, I put around 8k yearly on my car

I try not to drive it too much.

When I go to places, such as San Francisco, with lots of idling, and TOO many hills, I take public transit instead.
