My 05 civic have162,000 miles on it.
It over heats after a period of time and I can't have it idling for maybe 15-20 mins..what can be the cause of this?? Bad gasket? Bad water pump?...every morning before I go work I always put coolant in it...I was told with that much mileage, I shouldn't waste my time on fixing the gasket? Is that true or not?

That's low mileage IMO. Unless it's an abused wreck or a rust bucket.
Why are you letting it idle for 15-20 minutes?
Where is the coolant disappearing to?

The root cause is often much deeper, or, there may be a lot of 'cause and effect' that comes into play too.
You don't want to let Mr. Goodpliers hack a head gasket job either. You need someone who does good, thorough work.
The wrong person can total a car in just a few minutes (botched repair attempt causes more damage than the car is worth)
