Hey guys, I'm new to the community here. I was hoping for some simple advice as to whether or not this quote seems reasonable. An auto shop wants to charge $1400 to fix the damage in these photos. Thoughts? Black paint from black car.

I'm no body shop guy, but nowadays if you LOOK at a vehicle wrong, it can get expensive. I would get a couple extra quotes from other shops for comparison.

1400 is cheap. Paint alone can be damn expensive, even without any bodywork.
More quotes is always good. Get at least 3.
Got insurance? Let them handle it.

sounds reasonable to me,

if you want to be cheap,

you could always check scrap yards and see if you get lucky and find the same bumper, the rest could be touched up with paint

First check with insurance to see if this repair would affect your premiums and for how many years etc.
A used rear bumper cover in the same colour could address half the damage but the damage by the rear door does not look easy to restore by a DIYer.
My car is now 13 years old. My daughter is learning to drive and damaged the front passenger side bumper cover and quarter panel similar to your situation. I bent the panel back to reasonable shape, sanded the cover and panel, applied body fill, sanded, primed and painted. About a 6 out of 10 quality job but would expect a body shop would charge $1K to $2K. I also plan to keep the car until the trans or engine goes.

Depends on a couple of things:
1) is there damage to the suspension?
2) Are they painting the whole side from one end to the other?


I got my 02 coupe fixed for $900, similar damage (maybe worse) and they sprayed the whole side. I would get at least three estimates. Below is a picture of how it came out
