Essj.em2 is an unknown quantity at this point
Ecu

I have a 03 civic DX 5speed it had a D17a1 non-v but I blew it so I bought a jdm d17a v
So my question is can I use my stock non-v Ecu on the new motor and can I chip the Ecu?

Re: Ecu

Did you plug it in and see if it will run?

I think you'll be able to use the stock ECM to run it, but if you want to use the VTEC you'd need an aftermarket controller.

Re: Ecu

I would say to leave the old ecu in

try to start it like Ezone stated

drive it down to honda with the ecu ready to swap out

find a vtec ecu from a scrap yard, get honda to recode your key to the new ecu.

at this point you will probably have a CEL for vtec operation failure and the vehicle won't rev past 3,000km. Just drive her like a grandpa.

When you get home run wires from your new ecu to the vtec solenoid.

Re: Ecu

The D17A does not normally have a VTEC pressure switch nor will there be wiring for it. Wiring fabrication is definitely necessary.

If the D17A harness was used I think he will need to run 2 more wires for the pressure switch, and obtain a pressure switch.

If the D17A1 wire harness was reused then I think he will need to run 3 wires for the VTEC parts: the solenoid and the pressure switch, and obtain the pressure switch.
