Cig Lighter - No Power

Hey guys, I just took my car to hand wash it locally and the dude working there was nice enough to offer to wash and wax it for me. Anyways, when he finished & I tipped him, he had some old device that plugged into the cig lighter for power. He asked if he could plug it in to see if it worked for whatever reason. It was sentimental to him or something, old guy. I said sure. I didn't think about it until a second after he plugged it in, but his hand was wet & as soon as he did, my cig lighter stopped working (my fogs are tapped into it for power, so those stopped working as well). I know I should've been more observant, but would anybody know where exactly I need to start to fix this? Do I need a new cig lighter input thingy (don't know the terminology) or did the damage extend to the wire that plugs into in, causing the problem tp be much deeper than I'm assuming it to be right now? Thanks guys.

Literally just did that, thanks. No clue why I wasn't thinking in the first place, should've been the first thing I did

The new design sockets have a dished out center "hot" terminal inside.
