Re: Cam position sensor.

You are correct, took the car to auto zone, they pulled the codes but couldn't tell me what's wrong. Thought I could get some helpful info here. The car won't Rev past 4k it's like the motor is bouncing off the Rev limiter. On top of that, the idle is messed up at best. One min it idles at 1k the next it's at 2k.

I don't know, the guy couldn't tell me, he wasn't the brightest crayon in the box. I'll take it elsewhere and hope for someone a little smarter

Parts stores that are open on Sundays don't seem to employ people that can actually fix cars. In fact, it's much better for sales if they can't. (I'm pretty sure there's an aptitude test you must fail in order to get a job.)

You could just read the display yourself and write the info down or get a printout?

Re: Cam position sensor.

Okay I will do that. Just out of curiosity, could the cam position sensor cause the symptoms I listed and if not, any ideas what it could be?

Re: Cam position sensor.

I've heard people mention the rev limit and long cranking time before starting, but not the idle issue you speak of. Did that start at the same time as the other problems, or is it a separate problem??

Re: Cam position sensor.

Well I have only had the car for a few months and when I first got it, it did have a little idle issue but it got much worse when the other issue began.

Is your car an EX? Could be the v-tec solenoid. When my car gets low on oil the CEL comes on and it won't rev past 4K or so. Just bounces like it's hitting the rev limiter. Once I top off the oil and drive a few miles the CEL goes off the car runs fine. Not sure of the idel issue though.

I just finished putting my car back together and am getting the P1362 code which means no communication with the CPS and it idles alright but when you step on the gas the car wants to die. It also takes a bit to get the car to crank.
