How to stop silver circle from hitting new shift knob?

How to stop silver circle from hitting new shift ****?
I got a new shift ****, but I can't get the silver shift bolt to connect to the new ****. Is there any part I can buy to fix this? Currently it's annoying to hear the circle hitting the new ****.
