Tdc

I'm working on my 01 Honda civic EX trying to figure out what's making the coolant spill out the reservoir. So I'm following the Honda manual and in the "timing belt removal" part of the manual it mentions to position the crankshaft at TDC. It does not talk about putting the camshaft on TDC only when installing the belt. Yet, I see a lot of post where people say to put both the camshaft and crankshaft at TDC. I have my crankshaft at TDC but the camshaft is not at TDC. If I spin the cam to put it at TDC then then crankshaft gets out of TDC! I'm confused and could use some guidance. Thank you

Re: Tdc

Is it over heating or anything? I wouldn't think the timing would be causing any extra pressure on the cooling system. Is the coolant clear or is it milky?

Do you still have the belt on? You should be able to take the belt off and then put them both at TDC. Then put the belt back on. Unless the timing is really off you should only need to move them one or two teeth.

The camshaft has the UP work on pulley and little marks notched into the sides to line up with the top of the cylinder head where the valve cover meets the head.

The crankshaft has marks on the lip of it and there are small pointers to line it up.
