Do you have auto or manual? I hear a lot more issues with the autos, but Pennywise up there has a point. My '03 manual hasn't been to the shop for that yet... knock on wood.

If it got out of warranty without failing, it's not really a defect.

The best and only thing you can do is change the fluid every so often.

Nobody blinks when a Chrysler product needs a trans replaced at 500 miles, or rebuilt every 30k, and replaced again at 80k.

a friend of mine bought a dodge dart brand new last summer, when he went to pickup the car his tranny and clutch blew up on his 200 mile trip home to his house (all highway driving)

covered under warranty of course but it took them forever, like 3 weeks to replace it,

nobody blinks an eye when a domestic breaks down because its expected. on the other hand honda never really could make a reliable automatic transmission.
