Oil Leak

I have a 2004 Honda Civic EX and it looks like it is leaking a little oil from behind the crankshaft pulley next to the oil pan. Can I fix this problem with a new seal or do I need to take it to a mechanic?

Re: Oil Leak

Sounds like the crank seal, which is a PITA if you've never done a timing belt. While they're in there have the timing belt, water pump and tensioner done as well since they'll have to remove the belt to fix the seal.

Re: Oil Leak

could be a number of things.....most common would be crankshaft seal or oil pump gasket/seal, it could also be your camshaft seal and the oil is dripping all the way down the timing area....you are going to need to remove the timing cover to inspect it
