Question buring oil 1liter every 5 days

as title says im losing a liter to liter and a hals every couple of days car is not smoking but tail pipe is black, and not leaking oil on groud, has a 1.7vtec, and ideas on where to look into or what to do thanks.

i can not see that amount of oil getting past rings, no matter how bad they are.....i would bet the house on valve seals

How many miles is 5 days? 10 miles? 1000 miles? Everyone drives differently.

I bet rings.

It may well be smoking profusely while you drive and you can't see it.
The catalytic converter can hide a LOT of oil smoke too.


Pull the spark plugs. What do they show?
