hood latch stuck closed, and batter dead... help!!!???

i decided today, after finally reinstating my license that it was time to go out for a drive... my car has been sitting pretty much not being moved for a few months so the battery has little to no charge, so it wont start... the hood opened fine a couple days ago, but now, it is stuck closed, and i can't seem to open it no matter what i do... i know this has been adressed a million times in a million different ways but i couldnt find any help in the search results. i have jacked it up and tried using a coat hanger to pull the cable, but i end up just smacking my hand on pavement because the hanger isnt strong enough...

If the cable is not broken, try thumping on the hood (closed fist wrapped in a towel) at the front end where the latch is, while an assistant keeps the release lever pulled out. Usually it will release.

I had this issue before. I ended up having someone holding the release handle open while I shock the hood. it popped up and I was able to push the release lever.

Just tap on the hood above the latch really fast while someone holds the release lever pulled. It will pop open. Then grab some wd40, clean the latch and grease it up.
