Crank And Camshaft Seals

what do you use to pull these out with?

is a small flat head screwdriver fine to pry them out?

how do you loosen the camshaft bolt? the manual i have just says insert a screwdriver through the sprocket to hold it, but where? just through one of the spokes and over the cylider head?

Re: Crank And Camshaft Seals

If you got the valve cover off put a wrench around the cam to hold it.

They make seal pullers, but a screw driver usually works better, they are thinner. You are actually supposed to punch them, put atleast two screws into them, then use a puller on the screws, doesn't happen in real life though. What ever you do, just be careful not to scratch either part with it. They aren't in there tight, just hard to get at sometimes.

Re: Crank And Camshaft Seals

Cam seal is relatively easy. Just a matter of taking the cam gear off, which can suck. From there, it slips right off.

The crank seal, I drilled a pilot hole and used a self tapping screw and used some vise-grips to yank that f*cker out. Used a giant socket and a mallet to press the new one in

what do u mean by this? is there a spot on the cam where a wrench will fit to hold it?

is the camshaft seal just as easy to replace as the crank seal? is it just a matter of removing the sprocket and prying the old seal out?
