115mph speed limit?

I was on the autobahn today, and i hit 115mph, and it seemed like it cut out, im thinking that there is a speed limiter that cuts off the fuel at 115mph? can anyone confirm that?

Re: 115mph speed limit?

from my understanding, the d17a1 tops off at 110-115, the -a2 tops off at 135-ish.. My GPS said I was going 136.1 when I topped off my car way back when

Re: 115mph speed limit?

Civic LX's with the non-vtec d17a1 engines are electronically governed at 116 MPH in the US and Canada. The fuel pump cuts out.

Not sure what happens with European Civics.

I'm more interested in how far/long it took you to get there.

I don't see how you people feel comfortable doing over 110 in one of these civics... I pushed it to like 102 one day, and that just felt sketchy in the car. I've cruised, literally like it was nothing, in my mom's C300 at 115 and it felt comfortable, safe, smooth, etc. Am I a *****, or do all civics give that feeling?

Re: 115mph speed limit?

I topped my car off at ~135 and it didn't really take me that long.. Then again, I was on a road trip and I didn't really time myself to get that fast.

It didn't take too long to get there at all in a manual LX while holding 3rd and 4rth as long as possible. Honestly I think the car felt great at tripple digit speeds. Didn't feel unsafe at all. Maybe it does on 14" 195 stock tires, I don't know. I'm riding on 15" 205s.

Re: 115mph speed limit?

Im not 100% sure, It was between 4500 and 5000, had plenty more to go. And it felt good for running on stock size tires lol, wasnt shaking at all.

And someone said it, but my car is American Specs, not European.

Re: 115mph speed limit?

It didnt feel bad at all, i mean it wasn't squirely or shaking, just had to have two hands on the wheel, maybe my tires are just balanced extremely well(hence the no shaking) but it didnt take to long either, i didnt do a from a dead stop run, i was cruising in 5th at about 90mph and then i was like lets see what this thing will do.

Good question. Be careful guys, these just don't have the aerodynamics/air ducting etc, for triple digit speeds, especially the 4 doors. A little too much air pressure under the front end is all it takes.

How many of you have H-rated or better tires?

Re: 115mph speed limit?

EX should all have H rated tires, ive never used any worse. car is surprisingly very stable at 100mph and felt like it could go higher (on empty flat rural freeway). but not something i would do more than once. but this was when the car was still fairly new. i wouldnt dare try again now as it just doesnt have that safe feeling anymore. even 65mph seems like too much for it.
