I need to replace my rear brakes.
honda civic ex coupe. That doesnt make much of a difference I think
But my question is, Autozone sells two kinds of brake shoes. One is larger than the other and they are supposed to both fit here they are:

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...4886_329285_0_
On the notes is the thing I am having trouble with. The first one is 9 x 1 3/8" while the second one is 7 7/8 x 1 3/8".
Which one should I choose for my car???

You must have a zillion miles to wear out the rear shoes.
Drum spec is 7.870" (199.9mm), max dia. is 7.910" (201.0mm)
So you get the 7 7/8" shoes.

I heard some squeaks coming from my car whenever I pressed the Breaks. I had just done my front breaks 6 months ago so I doubt it was that. The back was the only think I thought of so Im going to replace them. the sound stopped a week ago so Im kind of Confused. Any help? Suggestions?

Re: Suprised this hasnt been asked.
You can check your back brakes to be safe, but if the sound went away it could have been dust build up or something along those lines, i would check either way..
Re: Suprised this hasnt been asked.
I had the same problem and Gunner was troubleshooting with me(big ups to Gunner)
My situation was that my brakes would squeak when it was cold/wet outside for the first few minutes until the brakes warmed up. Then it would go away. I checked the pads/rotors drum and shoes last night and came up with nothing. My car has about 190K on it and my shoes had a lot of life left. I just changed my front rotors and pads in 2010 summer. The front brakes take most of your braking so your shoes should be okay. Definitely check them out for yourself to make sure. For me,I guess I will just have to live with the noise.
Did you brakes stop making noise after a while? or was it continuously making noise even after 10minutes or so?
Also as gunner says it could be brake dust. You can use brake cleaner to clean out the rear brakes. Remember to grease up once your brakes are clean!

If you can have the car sitting still, pump the brake pedal, and hear squeaks with every pump, then there needs to be a little dab of lube where the shoes ride against the tin backing plate. 3 contact points for each of the 4 brake shoes. I like thick moly grease, myself.
If you think you have noises now.... put on cheap aftermarket shoes and see how many noises you get then.

Majestic Honda. The times I have actually double checked, their prices are around 10% over dealer cost, which is quite a bit under retail price.

yeah if you can wait a week or two, majestic is the way to go. wait until you have a large order otherwise shipping and handling is a bit high. dealer is only for emergency if you need something the next day and dont mind paying more than retail lol.

Suggested list price (MSRP) is only a suggestion though. Dealers are free to set their own prices.

Re: Suprised this hasnt been asked.
recommend opening up and lubbing -the squeak is quite famous. I still have the new shoes i bought and on 103k miles now. rear shoes were pristine. if you open you might find out ye don't need new shoes like i did.
