Hey guys I started my car up today and it was idling fine, and I wanted to rev it up, but as soon as it gets to 2000 rpm it starts reving up and down. Im pretty sure its a vacuum leak. Why would it only leak when I accelerate? and would gas/starting fluid work to find it?

could be air is moving slow enough at idle that it bypasses the torn hose without escaping.

Yeah, and i was also thinking, what if at idle speed the leak was minimum to none, but when the engine is forced to induced more air, then it would leak there more

I usually use carb cleaner. Pretty much whatever is on hand. *Wouldn't recommend gas.

Take off the air filter housing and check the throttlebody gasket real good with the carb cleaner. Remember small, controlled squirts.

***AND FOR GOD'S SAKE DON'T SPRAY ANY ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD***

Solved! Tightened down all hoses and clamps and no bouncing revs.

EDIT: NOT SOLVED

I think it could possibly be from knife-edging my throttle plate. any suggestions?
