Seat covers

Hi again, just wondering if any of you have good seat covers. i was lookin at a few today on ebay, but dont know if they are any good. i found these for the theme im goin for or whatever..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Unive...item3cb8c82fac

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Unive...item3a66e98a8e

same company and everything, but does anyone have anything like this? i dont have tons of $ to throw into custom seat covers, or new seats, or anything like that.. just want somethin simple and that doesnt cost a lot.

any pics or responses are appreciated! thanks!

Re: Seat covers

universal covers will never be any good. they do not fit right, are saggy, and just annoying. i wouldnt bother unless you go custom to replace the stock ones which isnt really worth it just for the looks imo.

Re: Seat covers

I recently installed my seat covers, they are hippie brand. I just threw a polyester/nylon short sleeve shirt and it looks great!

I have bought some seat covers a few yrs ago from walmart and they were junk. The came in a plastic see-through box so stay away from those is my 2cents.

The covers you are looking are universal- they will never fit perfect and will probably fade and develop creases from sitting in them for an extended amount of time. I don't think 01 civics had side airbags so no worries there. If you had side airbags the covers would make the bag inflate inside the cover and split your back in two.

Re: Seat covers

... i got some of those from walmart now :/ but they are stupid. i got em when i first got my car, and just want different ones. and i hate havin the 2 front seats covered and not the back bench thing. and i haaaaaaate the color of my interior seats, so if i have to cover em with a cheapy cover, that's what i'll do. i just wish my interior was all black. then i wouldnt have to worry about anything, but no.. its gray. ugh..

oh well.. still though.. if anyone knows any good brand or company, please let me know.. :/

Re: Seat covers

What I thought about doing with my old 7th gen was getting some of these....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2001-...item5ae25b567c

and taking out the seats and take them to a local upholstery place locally owned and just tell them to put em on there and take the old stuff off.

The custom seat cover kits I've seen are mostly in the $500 range and leather, but for that price you could just swap over to RSX fronts with EL rears..

Re: Seat covers

That's why I never replaced em.hehe. I would get something water-sweat proof. The minute you stain your seats will be the minute you wish your covers were water-proof/resistant.

Just wrap a comfy shirt on the seat. I got 2 of my college 5k shirts on there now, it kinda customizes your car without being cheap about it. Or maybe I'll throw my metallica shirt over it someday.ahh the possibilities

FYI- I've watched those for a couple of years now and the reserve is like $100 or so. Not exactly cheap but, not $300-500.

Try the local upholstery shop and see how much they'll charge ya. I bet it's less than $500.

you could try coverking http://www.carcoverusa.com/Coverking...Materials.html or an evan cheaper option would be to dye the seats black.

Agree. I would add 5th gen hatches but, it's getting kinda hard to find parts for those now.

i thought dying ur seats made em look and feel crappy.. like makes the fiber things hard or whatever bc of the paint. do you know anyone who has done that?

Check some of these out at this link.

http://www.jcwhitney.com/razor-low-b...d894y2001o20j1

Jcwhitney has a lot of seat covers for a 01 civic and have varied prices for what your looking for. You might have to plug in your car to see seat covers for your civic though so make sure to do that before searching.

are you handy with fabric and a needle? maybe you can make your own custom covers lol. just take the stock one off and measure the fabrics so it matches, then sew everything together.

Re: Seat covers

I know a guy who does custom upolstery and he could easily do the seats but looking at $1000+.

I would love covers too and convert the boring granny grey to a sexy black but not willing to blow more than $100. For $1000 so many other ways to spend it on the car.

And I would never get racing seats, they are literally like sitting on plastic chairs. I dont know how some people find that comfortable.

the good seats from sparco and other expensive brands have memory foam and are way better than stock in every way.

I wouldn't recommend dyeing the seats.. The texture would feel crappy, and to be honest would probably look crappy too. Then depending on the quality of the dye you'd have to worry about sweat or rain possibly causing it to run.. Also some of the dyes will start to come off when you're just lightly cleaning the surface. I detailed for a couple of years as well as repaired interiors so I try to stay away from dyeing any interior fabrics.
If you hate your seats that much I'd just save up to swap better seats or get a decently priced custom fit cover if you can find one.
I like my interior but I got cheapo auto zone covers for when my puppy rides in the car. I hate them, but I hate cleaning dog hair and dog barf out of my car more haha.
